JEE Main 2021 notification to be out soon; exams to begin from February 2021

JEE Main 2021: As per the latest update, the first phase of JEE Main 2021 is expected to be conducted in the month of February 2021, a deferral of one month from its regular date owing to the pandemic. The application process for the first phase of JEE Main 2021 is expected to begin in the month of December 2020. JEE Main is usually conducted in two phases - in the months of January and April for the screening of candidates to undergraduate engineering and architecture courses and JEE Advanced exam.



Postponement of JEE Main 2021 

A senior Government official was quoted saying that due to the late conduct of JEE Main Phase 2 exams, which were recently wrapped in the month of September, the admission process is still underway in many engineering colleges. He said that given the situation, the Ministry of Education is of the opinion that JEE Main 2021 1s phase is likely to be postponed to February 2021. He also said that given the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the National Testing Agency, the conducting body will require around two months time to prepare the JEE Main 2021 test centres in accordance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines so that the exam is safely delivered.

In October 2020, the Government also decided to widen the reach of JEE Main 2021 by offerings 13 languages for the examination. The official said that the decision on the number of languages for JEE Main 2021 also remains to be finalised and its preparation will also require time which further asserts in postponing to the month of February 2021.

Other Exams Like NEET to be Postponed

Along with JEE Main 2021, several other exams are also likely to be pandemic. According to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), given the pandemic situation and the forthcoming exams in West Bengal and Assam, Gujarat and many other States it may not be possible to conduct examinations on time.
